In addition, he holds a Personal Financial Planner Designation from the Institute of Canadian Bankers and a Certificate of Achievement from the Scotiabank Commercial Banker Development Program which required him to frequently travel to Toronto for the course work.

Fun fact about Rtn. Dion, he was a DJ using the moniker Big D and KGB Sounds and also dabbled in the area of event planning holding a number of cruises and land events. He loves running and frequently participates in Run Barbados Events and the Hiker’s Association Annual Hill Challenge. He is an active Hasher as a member of the BH3 and Moon Over Hash Harriers hash clubs. In addition to outdoor fitness, Dion loves partying and travelling.
 
Rtn Dion’s 23 years of extensive banking experience took him through various roles with Scotiabank including Teller, Teller Supervisor, Offshore Account Officer, Management Trainee, Portfolio Analyst, Commercial Banking Manager (Dominica) and Credit Solutions Manager. For the past 10 years he has been Scotiabank’s Senior Client Relationship Manager with responsibility for managing a portfolio of corporate clients. He primarily works with the CEOs, CFOs and Shareholders of the businesses providing advice and solutions on all financial matters from new account opening, transaction banking, trade finance (Letters of Credit, Guarantees) Non revolving loans, Overdrafts, credit card terminals, online banking, foreign exchange.

Over the years, Rtn Dion copped numerous awards for service and performance. He was recognised as a Top Performer last December having achieved 403% of his loan target, 200% of his Revenue target and onboarding the most accounts during the year. Rtn Dion explained that having spent so much time on his education and career, he welcomed the opportunity to give back to the community in a structured way. He was approached about joining Rotary but due to work commitments at the time, was never able to attend the lunch time meetings. However, after speaking with long time friend and work colleague Rtn. Ryan Best, he decided to bite the bullet and attend a Rotary South meeting. After
attending those meetings and other club events, he felt a part of the Rotary South family. One of his most memorable moments in Rotary was the 2021 Bus Fare Project which provided an opportunity to pay forward bus fares for a day.
