 Spotlight News

Rotary Club of Barbados South

Pictured above are some of the highlights from our session on the "Constitution Reform - Have Your Say" led by the Government's Constitution Reform Committee which was held on March, 22nd 2023.
At the conclusion of the final MUN for 2023, the Rotary Clubs in Barbados awarded Paul Harris Fellowships to three outstanding supporters of the Model United Nations Program.

Welcome to the PHF family, Jawara Wells, Ricky Wilson and Nicole Clarke-Foster.
The culmination of 7 weeks of training at the UN House of our delegates from 11 schools (private and public) took place on Saturday March 25th at the historic venue of the Parliament of Barbados. A fitting location for what has been a powerful cohort.

Our three Rotary Clubs supported by our Rotaractors and friends have given their time and experience to our 33 "Ministers" who sought to give their Country's position on Climate Change and the economic fallout of the impact.  The day was met with anticipation and nerves as they arrived representing 26 countries and 7 institutions.  The Opening ceremony of the finale was addressed by the Acting Prime Minister, Dr. The Hon. William Duguid and the UN Resident Coordinator, Didier Trébucq. Both gentlemen praised our delegates for their commitment and dedication to this project.

We have to thank the UN for being our homebase for 8 years and for the continued support.
The outstanding delegates adjudged on Saturday were:

Samoa: Nyangie Bradshaw - Lodge School
Trinidad and Tobago: Anastasia DeCaires - St Winifred's
South Africa: Jovenna Ifill - The St Michael School
Bangladesh: Sarah Bisram - Harrison College
Panama: Thea Herbert - The St Michael School

Special thanks to Stansfeld Scott and all Rotarians who assisted with refreshments and to the Rotarians who came to assist.
A warm welcome and thank you to Rotarian Florian Nsabiyumva of the Rotary Club of Anguilla who visited our club on March 22nd and exchanged banners with President Brian.
An Agrokids workday was held last Saturday morning (March 25) at 8:00am at Vauxhall Primary School in Christ Church. The Prime Minister of Barbados will be conducting an unveiling ceremony (scheduled for April 4) at our Gardens at the Vauxhall School and this workday was to help with the preparations of the garden for the event. The images above captured the activity and fellowship shared which was a great start to the weekend!
Rotary International

High in the Andes, an indigenous community had been waiting more than a decade for clean drinking water.

They had worked with a regional water agency on a plan, but didn't have the funding to put it into effect – until they met a new Rotary club willing to apply for their first global grant.

Rotaract Club of South Barbados
The Rotaract Club of South Barbados staged its 4th edition of the Karting For Charity last Saturday 25th March 2023. The event attracted several professional karting teams as well as corporate and family teams for an exciting day on the circuit. Among this year's corporate line-up were Structural Services Limited, Signia Globe, EY, Western Wholesale, Sagicor and of course major sponsor BPWCCUL.
Pictured above are some of the highlights from the recently concluded Karting for Charity 2023. The Rotaract Club of South Barbados wishes to thank everyone for supporting the fundraising initiative.
Saturday, March 25th marked the finale of the 8-week Model United Nations (MUN) Programme hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Barbados.

Our Rotaractors Shanae, Cadesha, Jamie-Lee and Tre benefited tremendously from the experience. Congratulations to all of the Rotary Clubs on another successful staging of MUN.
